Calathea 'Tessera' care

Among the quieter members of the genus, Calathea 'Tessera' forms a vining spreader and settles quickly indoors.

Position it in morning sun with afternoon shade and rotate the pot monthly for even growth. It prefers to be watered little and often, keeping the mix barely moist, and it will forgive a missed week far better than a doubled one.

Keep it at a pebble tray in heated rooms; pot it in coco coir with added bark and refresh the top layer each spring. It is mildly irritating to pets if chewed, so shelve it accordingly.
