Calathea 'Tessera-vireo' care

Calathea 'Tessera-vireo' is a forgiving choice for most rooms, developing a slow climber within its first year.

It does best in bright light with no direct midday sun, though it tolerates brief departures without sulking. Water when the leaves just begin to soften; the fastest way to lose one is a saucer left full.

Keep it at 55% humidity or higher; pot it in standard mix cut with a third perlite and refresh the top layer each spring. Propagation is straightforward from stem cuttings rooted in water.
