Calathea 'Brevifolia-tessera' care

Among the quieter members of the genus, Calathea 'Brevifolia-tessera' forms a trailing habit and settles quickly indoors.

Give it medium filtered light; leaf colour fades noticeably in darker spots. It prefers to be watered when the leaves just begin to soften, and it will forgive a missed week far better than a doubled one.

It is happiest at a humid corner or grouped planting, potted in a chunky aroid mix. New leaves emerge paler and darken over their first fortnight.
