Maranta 'Nocturne-velutina' care

Maranta 'Nocturne-velutina' is a forgiving choice for most rooms, developing a trailing habit within its first year.

It does best in bright light with no direct midday sun, though it tolerates brief departures without sulking. Water sparingly, letting the pot dry almost through; the fastest way to lose one is a saucer left full.

Keep it at a pebble tray in heated rooms; pot it in a free-draining cactus-leaning mix and refresh the top layer each spring. Under good conditions it may flower indoors, though the foliage is the point.
