Begonia 'Velutina-viridis' care

Begonia 'Velutina-viridis' is a forgiving choice for most rooms, developing a compact rosette within its first year.

Give it bright light with no direct midday sun; leaf colour fades noticeably in darker spots. Water sparingly, letting the pot dry almost through. Yellowing lower leaves almost always mean too much, not too little.

Aim for a pebble tray in heated rooms and use rich, moisture-retentive mix — roots here want air as much as water. New leaves emerge paler and darken over their first fortnight.
