Alocasia 'Umbra-velutina' care

Among the quieter members of the genus, Alocasia 'Umbra-velutina' forms an upright clump and settles quickly indoors.

Position it in bright indirect light and rotate the pot monthly for even growth. Water weekly in summer and fortnightly in winter. Yellowing lower leaves almost always mean too much, not too little.

Keep it at a pebble tray in heated rooms; pot it in rich, moisture-retentive mix and refresh the top layer each spring. Propagation is straightforward from stem cuttings rooted in water.
