Alocasia 'Borealis-umbra' is a forgiving choice for most rooms, developing an upright clump within its first year.

It does best in bright light with no direct midday sun, though it tolerates brief departures without sulking. It prefers to be watered sparingly, letting the pot dry almost through, and it will forgive a missed week far better than a doubled one.
