Dieffenbachia 'Ember-umbra' care

Among the quieter members of the genus, Dieffenbachia 'Ember-umbra' forms a slow climber and settles quickly indoors.

Give it bright indirect light; leaf colour fades noticeably in darker spots. Water when the top third of the mix is dry; the fastest way to lose one is a saucer left full.

Keep it at a pebble tray in heated rooms; pot it in coco coir with added bark and refresh the top layer each spring. Propagation is straightforward from stem cuttings rooted in water.
