Philodendron 'Opaline-umbra' care

Philodendron 'Opaline-umbra' is a forgiving choice for most rooms, developing a compact rosette within its first year.

Give it bright light with no direct midday sun; leaf colour fades noticeably in darker spots. It prefers to be watered weekly in summer and fortnightly in winter, and it will forgive a missed week far better than a doubled one.

It is happiest at a pebble tray in heated rooms, potted in standard mix cut with a third perlite. Under good conditions it may flower indoors, though the foliage is the point.
