Monstera 'Umbra-velutina' care

Monstera 'Umbra-velutina' is a forgiving choice for most rooms, developing a compact rosette within its first year.

Give it low to medium light; leaf colour fades noticeably in darker spots. Water sparingly, letting the pot dry almost through. Yellowing lower leaves almost always mean too much, not too little.

Keep it at a humid corner or grouped planting; pot it in a free-draining cactus-leaning mix and refresh the top layer each spring. Under good conditions it may flower indoors, though the foliage is the point.
